Marisa Acierno joined the Fund for Peace as a Research Assistant in 2012. She has worked on the Conflict Early Warning and Assessment Program and is currently focused on Universal Network of Local Knowledge (UNLocK) initiatives and is in the early stages of co-creating a forecasting model based on FFP’s Failed States Index methodology.

Prior to joining FFP, Marisa worked at several non-profits and political organizations in the Washington, D.C. area. Most recently, she spent a year abroad at the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies in Geneva, Switzerland. She also interned at a United Nations-affiliated anti-torture NGO during this time.

In her final year of undergraduate study, Marisa hopes to write a thesis analyzing the philosophical underpinnings of the international political system. Upon completion of her B.A. at Smith College, Marisa plans to pursue a law degree in the U.S. and then hopes continue her education and career abroad.
