Mario Nascimento is a Research Assistant at the Fund for Peace. Since joining the Fund for Peace in 2012, he has worked in the Conflict Early Warning and Assessment Program focusing on the Failed States Index.
From 2006 to 2010, Mario worked for the Organization of American States (OAS) in Colombia. As a Verification Officer, Mario monitored the demobilization of paramilitary groups and their reintegration into civilian life. During this period, he also supported national reconciliation processes through community-based projects. In concert with local and national actors, he promoted the restoration and extension of state authority in regions previously controlled by armed groups. Recently, Mario has completed his master’s degree program at Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA). |
