Krista Hendry is a Senior Associate at the Fund for Peace.
She directs FfP's Human Rights & Business Roundtable and is the
project leader of the early warning and conflict assessment team.
One of its main products is the Failed States Index, published in
the July/August 2005 issue of Foreign Policy magazine. She
oversaw the production of the Failed States Index, including the
collection of data and coordinating the team's analysis and
verification procedures for the CAST software. In her role as
director of the Roundtable, she has chaired numerous conferences
on security and transparency issues in conflict zones focusing
on the extractive industry and led a group of ten international
NGOs and experts to visit extractive industry sites. She also
developed a communications strategy for NATO in the former Soviet
Union for the destruction of small arms. Ms. Hendry joined
the Fund for Peace in 2002 after earning her MBA at Georgetown
University. Before undertaking her master's program, she
worked in Germany at the Frankfurt Economic Development GmbH
as Asian director. Her focus was primarily on software and
international trading companies, and her work sent her throughout
Asia. Her undergraduate degree is from the University of Virginia,
where she majored in German literature and foreign affairs. She
is a participant in the Voluntary Principles on Security and
Human Rights and served on the CSIS Task Force on Rising
U.S. Energy Stakes in Africa. She is also on the Boards of
Directors of R.P.M., a non-profit modern dance company that uses
dance to help traumatized children, and of Liberty's Promise,
a newly formed non-profit that develops programs to increase the
civic participation of immigrant children and children of
immigrants to the US.
